Ukraine reserved the
right to take adequate measures to compensate for all the losses in the Crimea at
the expense of property owned by the Russian Federation. This was started
by Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko during a press conference.
"Russia is the only country that recognized the
so-called Republic
of Crimea. There is no
doubt that the decision of the Russian Federation
on the accession of Ukraine's
territory is a flagrant violation of international treaties. I’m convinced that
Russia
will suffer serious reputational and financial losses," the Minister said.
“All separatists, who
violate the low, will be brought to the responsibility. We will not forget anyone
who tries to ruin Ukraine.
These people will be prosecuted Ukrainian as well as international legislation,"
Pavlo Petrenko said.
He also commented the decision
of the so-called Crimean authorities on the "nationalization" of
state property of Ukraine in
Crimea.
"If Russia will officially recognize these actions, Ukraine reserves the right to take adequate
measures to compensate for all losses at the expense of the property of the Russian Federation and which is located on the territory of Ukraine and in other countries. We will
do this in strict accordance with Ukrainian and international
legislation," the Minister said.
Pavlo Petrenko separately stressed on the protection of the
rights of Ukrainian citizens.
"Ukraine will not leave any citizen in the Crimea without protection. Thus, the Crimean Tatars have
every right to protect its national interests. On our initiative the Verkhovna
Rada will adopt a package of laws at the next session that would allow determining
the Crimean Tatars on their legal status. However, I convinced that the issue
of territorial integrity of Ukraine
will be resolved positively in historical perspective, and the region will be
an integral part of Ukraine,"
the Minister said.
