Minister of the
Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Ostap Semerak has discussed with representatives of the U.S.
government the issues of technical assistance to our country and support for
economic reforms. The coordination of all technical assistance to Ukraine and
the Government, which comes from abroad, was discussed at the meeting with the
Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States Bruce Donahue, Counselor for Politic
Affairs of the U.S. Embassy to Ukraine Alexander Kasanof,
Counselor for Economic Affairs of the U.S. Embassy to Ukraine David Meale and USAID Mission to Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova
Director Jed Barton.
Ostap Semerak noted, in particular, that aid will be given in the
following areas: security, macroeconomics and restore of social harmony.
The U.S. side stressed that the U.S. is ready to provide Ukraine both technical and economic
support, but the Ukrainian government should decide on the priority areas of
assistance. Ostap Semerak
noticed that he appealed to all ministers to determine these priorities.
By turn, the U.S. side has initiated the establishment of the
so-called donor community that will consist of both Americans and Europeans and
the community could be called to coordinate the provision of necessary
assistance to Ukraine.
The parties also
discussed the need to create a focal point of reform, to which international
experts will be involved in Ukrainian.
Ostap Semerak stressed during the meeting that the Ukrainian
government is working on a principle "One Hundred Days - One Hundred
Steps".
