Yatseniuk: Those wishing to defend the country, enroll in the National Guard

"Those wishing to defend the country, enroll in the National Guard. All others who walk the streets with guns - they violate the law," Prime Minister of Ukraine Yatseniuk said at the Cabinet meeting on Sunday, March 16.

"Anyone who wants to defend the country, enroll in the National Guard. There are training centers there, there are legitimate weapons there. There is an opportunity to defend the country by the rule of law," Yatseniuk emphasized.

According to Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov and head of the Security Service of Ukraine Valentyn Nalyvaichenko Ukrainian citizens were urged to surrender unregistered fire-arms "in connection with extreme socio-political situation in the country, the aggravation of the crime situation and the systematic provocations by foreign citizens in Crimea and in the south-east of Ukraine."
