Jan Tombinski emphasized the European Union was ready to
support Ukraine. However, it is necessary to establish a clear cooperation
mechanism in order to ensure the partnership bring benefits to our country
within the shortest terms possible. “We have
met not only to congratulate You and the new Ukrainian Government in your
person, but, first of all, with an aim to discuss your further steps and how
we can help you. As we are striving to create the most effective structure to
coordinate international assistance. All our help depends on how distinctly
we will be able to build our dialog and reveal the most acute issues that
demand joining our efforts,” Jan Tombinski said
starting the meeting. Pavlo Sheremeta stressed the new Ukrainian Government had
obtained a huge credit of trust from the people, so it had no right to make
mistakes. All the efforts of the country’s leaders are paid to system
reforms, including the economic ones. Among the principal priorities in the
near term is the aid amounting USD 3 billion for 2014 the World Bank is ready
to provide. “Yesterday
I was in the World Bank’s Office here in Kyiv and discussed the details of
cooperation. We must act vigorously and remove or reduce formalities fast,” the
Minister noted. “The second
important priority still remains corruption-free, transparent and
understandable public procurement system. Ukrainian specialists and
international experts were working on the new redaction in brief terms and
this issue has been included in the agenda of the Government’s session. The following
steps concern an anti-corruption program, creating normal competitive
environment, favorable investment climate and deregulation. “A
package of deregulation documents contains around 20 laws. We have two panels
engaged into work on this issue. We want to elaborate basic practices during
the two weeks,” Pavlo Sheremeta
explained. The participants
of the meeting have stressed Ukraine and the EU are at the outset of the road,
but the positive fact is that the two sides express a desire and readiness to
do whatever is needed to ensure gradual rapprochement. |
