Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers meets with delegation of French National Assembly

The Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Ostap Semerak has met with a delegation of the French National Assembly headed by deputy of the National Assembly of France for Seine-Saint-Denis, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Assemblée Nationale, Elisabeth Guigou.

During the meeting parties discussed the political situation in Ukraine, in particular the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on the peninsula. Ostap Semerak stressed that the Government of Ukraine shows "maximum restraint." He said, "there were given orders to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to not leave the deployment of its military units, not to use weapons during the provocations."

The parties have discussed topical issues of economic and political nature.

In particular, Ukrainian side stressed that it expects on resuming the program of European integration and the support from France and the EU in the early resumption of cooperation with international financial institutions in the first place - with the IMF. "We count on the support of France in an effort of Ukraine to resume cooperation program with the IMF," Ostap Semerak said.

He said that Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk is going to the summit of the Council of Europe in Brussels on March 6.

Ostap Semerak also said that Ukraine expects on the French’s expertise help for the implementation of specific projects within the framework of continuing reforms in Ukraine. "We decided to invite experts who could work as advisors in ministries of Ukrainian Government," - the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers said.

By turn, Elisabeth Guigou has reaffirmed the support for the aspirations of Ukraine. She stressed that "the proposals that are currently been voiced in particular - a loan in excess of 6 billion euros from the European Union at competitive interest rates and assistance from the IMF to support the balance of payments will enable us to balance economic situation in Ukraine in the near future."
