Current state of strategic partnership relations between Ukraine and China discussed

On February 26, 2014 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Viktor Mayko received Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Ukraine Zhang Xiyun.

During the meeting the interlocutors discussed the current state of strategic partnership relations between the two countries, trade and economic cooperation, the course of realization of understandings in energy, agriculture, infrastructure development etc.  

The Ambassador of China announced the problems were absent between Ukraine and China, those capable to make negative impact on future development of relations between the two countries. Therefore, the Chinese diplomat emphasized there existed readiness of the official Beijing to continue development of strategic partnership with Ukraine and highlighted willingness to continue implementation of mutually beneficial bilateral projects in agriculture, energy and other areas.

Regarding information by certain e-media that the People’s Republic of China allegedly demands a loan amounting USD 3 bln to be returned by Ukraine for supplying agricultural production, the Ambassador of China stressed the official Beijing had no pretentions concerning the course of implementation of the abovementioned contract and is ready to continue the realization of it. In this regard, Zhang Xiyun informed about the planned forthcoming visit of Kyiv by the CCEC president aiming to hold the next round of negotiations with the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine to discuss implementation of the mentioned deal.
