O. Vilkul thanks power engineers, rescuers, communal workers for the well-coordinated work in hard weather conditions

During the teleconference on February 13, the Vice Prime Minister Olexandr Vilkul thanked to power engineers, rescuers, communal workers for the well-coordinated work in the complicated weather conditions. “Owing to the strict coordination of actions of all the services by February 13 power supply has been resumed in 1 602 inhabited localities in 17 regions, that suffered blackout as a result of bad weather. The damaged electrical grid is left to restore in 3 inhabited localities of Odessa region. The activities are being held 24 hours and has to be completed tomorrow,” the Vice Prime Minister said.

 “Odessa region together with Kherson, Mykolayiv and Crimean regions were the epicenter of bad weather. Up to 90% damage to electrical systems has been accounted for by them. The Government has rendered assistance to the regions to liquidate the accidents. Including that repair brigades were relocated to the regions which needed the aid most. In the most complicated periods 400 repair brigades and 600 machinery units were operating in the 24-hour regime,” Olexandr Vilkul added.

He expressed gratitude to the power engineers, rescuers, communal workers who had to work all day round in the hard weather conditions.

“However, it is our duty. It has been fulfilled,” the Vice Prime Minister said.  

Ukrautodor resumed motor traffic along the public roads in all the 14 regions where it was complicated through bad weather. They are Volyn, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolayiv, Odessa, Rivne, Ternopil, Kherson, Khmelnytsky and Chernivtsi regions. Moreover, connection with all 829 inhabited localities has been restored.

 “Thanks to the coordinated 24-hour work of road workers, rescuers, military officers there have been freed from snow drifts over 6 thousand cars. The assistance was received by almost 12 thousand drivers and passengers. In the regions there were deployed over 5 warming stations, 1200 social patrols were working. Over 68 thousand people were saved from hypothermia,” the Vice Premier informed and emphasized on the task for Ukrautodor, State Emergency Service, heads of regions to continue constant monitoring of the situation.
