Solemn farewell of the Ukrainian team to XXII Winter Olympics in Sochi is held

On January 30, 2014 the solemn farewell of the Ukrainian team, which will fight for medals at the XXII Winter Olympics in Sochi from February 7 to 23 February, has been held at the NSC "Olimpiyskiy".

The event was attended by Head of the Presidential Administration Andriy Kliuyev, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Vilkul, Vice Prime Minister Kostyantyn Gryshchenko, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Ravil Safiulin, president of the National Olympic Committee Serhiy Bubka, members of Olympic team and prominent Ukrainian athletes.

Head of the Presidential Administration Andriy Kliuyev has read the greetings of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and handed the State Flag of Ukraine to Head of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka.

The Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine noted that honorable mission and a great responsibility is on athletes who will defend the honor of Ukraine at the Olympics in Sochi.

“Athletes who will manage to win medals at the XXII Winter Olympics in Sochi will receive apartments from the state,” Andriy Kliuyev informed.

The Head of the Presidential Administration wished Ukrainian athletes a strong health, sports inspiration and great victories.

With parting words Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Ravil Safiulin also address to Olympians.

"Today, each of you is truly a great day - the day on which you were waiting for years. Indeed, to become a member of the Olympic Games - is the top of which millions dream about it, but only chosen are able to conquer it," Ravil Safiulin said.

Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Ravil Safiulin also expressed gratitude to the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych for the attention that he pays to sports.

Athletes were also welcomed by the President of the National Olympic Committee Serhiy Bubka, coaches, famous athletes and show business stars.

In conclusion, the Minister of Youth and Sports Ravil Safiulin and President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Sergey Bubka handed the Olympians the Rushnyk with a map of Ukraine.

"Joint support always brings people together and is an important part in the life of society. All Ukraine is rooting for you. I’m confident that the support of the Ukrainians to inspire you to new achievements," Serhiy Bubka said.

Note, that in the framework of festive event Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Vilkul and President of the National Olympic Committee Sergey Bubka presented the logo of Lviv's application for the Winter Olympics 2022.
