Ministry of Justice considers release of its building is a positive step that will further the dialogue

In connection with the seizure of the building of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on the Gorodetskyi street, 13, on the night of January 27, 2014, the work of the Ministry of Justice on a number of strategically important areas was blocked. These illegal actions have led to disruption of vital constitutional rights, collateral of which are assigned on the Ministry of Justice, including:

- it has been suspended the work the Ministry towards constitutional and legal reform, including the work of the working group was suspended that during the attack draft the Law of Ukraine on Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine. The working group was not even given the opportunity to take worked out materials. Today the working group resumed its operation in other building of the Ministry of Justice;

- it has been blocked the implementation by the state of its international legal obligations, including the collection from persons residing abroad, of child maintenance - citizens of Ukraine, return to Ukraine of children who have been kidnapped; on the extradition of perpetrators of criminal offenses, the return of citizens of Ukraine that are convicted abroad sentenced to imprisonment;

- paralyzed the work on the adaptation of Ukraine's legislation to EU standards;

- suspended payments of judgment debt assigned by the European Court of Human Rights to applicant of the just satisfaction, as well as enforcement of domestic court that States have an obligation to perform on the decisions of the European Court, which threatens Ukraine multimillion losses;

- blocked work to represent the interests of the state in the national courts and international jurisdictional bodies. Consequently to adoption is not in the public interest absentia decisions, possible seizure of state assets abroad, blocking accounts of diplomatic missions of Ukraine abroad, etc.;

- inability to provide the constitutional rights of access to legal information;

- paralyzed work on state registration of legal acts of ministries and other central executive bodies and other agencies;

- prevents operation of the Unified State Register of legal acts and ensure timely official publication of legal acts and their enactment.

Ministry of Justice takes all necessary measures to restore the work in all areas of its operations.

The Ministry of Justice considers that the release of the building of the Ministry on the Gorodetsky Street, 13, is a positive step that will further the dialogue and allow to promptly restoring the full functioning of the Ministry.
