Mykola Azarov: The Government has not given law enforcement any additional orders on the use of force
The Government has not given
law enforcement agencies any additional orders on the use of force against
violent protesters. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said in an
interview with BBC in
The Prime Minister
stressed that there are instructions that provide minimal use of force and only
against those protesters who use force, attacking police officers and commit
riots.
Mykola Azarov said
that force had not been used and would not be used against peaceful protesters.
"Instructions to
law enforcement agencies are given simple: to avoid the use of force against
peaceful demonstrators, to prevent taking by force of government buildings and
institutions. And they used only the approved list of measures, including the
use of tear gas if there is a threat to the life of law enforcement officers
and use of sheets and more. That is the Cabinet did not give now no specific guidelines," Mykola Azarov emphasized.
