Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov ordered local authorities, communal and road services, the State Emergency Service, operative headquarters in the regions to work in an intensified regime in connection with worsening weather conditions, targeting to ensure operation of all life support systems in the regions in the normal mode.

“Ukraine faces difficult weather conditions: strong wind, snow, sleet. The frost is strengthening. The risk of appearing accidents on heating and power networks has increased. I have said about that already – Mykolayiv, Odessa regions. Olexandr Yuriyovych [Vilkul] has reported me already and we will resume power supply. So, functioning of life support systems in the regions – heating, water supply, gas supply, reliable operation of power networks, public transport must be provided absolutely in the normal mode,” the Head of the Government said.

He added that on the roads there had to be ensured stable and safe transport traffic: “Therefore the whole communal, road and rescue equipment must be operational and alert to respond to any difficult situations. Peculiar attention must be paid to the stops of public transport, ways to the underground stations, social objects, hospitals, drugstores and other life support objects”.

“We have been thoroughly preparing to it, so God forbid, failures will be punished seriously. I set a task personally to the Vice Prime Minister Olexandr Vilkul to keep this issue under the constant control,” Mykola Azarov stressed.
