O. Vilkul orders to ensure work of social patrols and warm-up facilities during cold weather
During the all-Ukrainian teleconference the Vice Prime Minister Olexandr
Vilkul has set a task to the local authorities and the State Emergency Service
to ensure operation of social patrols and warm-up facilities in cold weather times.

“In
connection with sharp temperature drop in the regions it is vital to prepare
and place operatively the warm-up facilities in case of significant lowering of
temperatures. Moreover, it is necessary to ensure work of social patrols that
must include medical workers, social services’ employees, rescue and law
enforcement officers, volunteers,” O. Vilkul said. The head

reported the Vice Premier, in the nearest two weeks we would face
complicating of weather conditions. In the next three days the majority of
Ukraine’s territories will have temperature oscillations from 2-6 degrees
Celsius above zero to 5-10 degrees Celsius below zero, rain, snow, sleet on the roads. From January 20 sharp drop of
temperature is expected on the whole territory of the country – to 20 degrees
Celsius below zero at night and to 15 degrees Celsius below zero at day. “That’s
why I order all the services to be ready in any situations to provide people
with water, heating, electricity, to ensure stable operation of public
transport. Emergency maintenance brigades are to continue 24-hour duty,”
Olexandr Vilkul said. He
ordered leaders of the regions to pay peculiar attention to the state of
communal vehicles, accumulate sufficient amount of fuel and spreading
materials. “In
connection with possible snowfalls the works on cleaning up the streets to
start beforehand, coordinate actions of communal services with law
enforcement bodies. If needed the Government will render assistance,”
