Leonid Kozhara holds meeting with ambassadors of CIS member states
On January 16,
2014 on the occasion of Ukraine’s CIS chairmanship the Head of the Council of
Foreign Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara held a meeting with ambassadors of the CIS member-countries.

The
meeting dealt with considering the priorities of Ukraine’s CIS chairmanship,
top-priority measures and interaction between the countries participants targeting
realization of these measures. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
noted that main efforts would be directed to ensuring further development of
the Commonwealth and strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation. L. Kozhara made an emphasis on the economic component of
cooperation of the countries in the framework of Ukraine’s chairmanship,
that is preparation of the draft agreements on the pipeline transportation,
trade in services, a protocol on the stage-by-stage abolition of an export
duty. Moreover,
in the framework of the chairmanship Ukraine will pay significant attention to
the development of cultural and humanitarian component of the cooperation. The year
of Ukraine’s CIS chairmanship coincides with such noted events as celebration
of the 200-th anniversary of birth of T. Shevchenko and the 70-th anniversary
of liberation of Ukraine from German fascist invaders. With the view to the declaring
2014 the Year of Tourism the Commonwealth of Independent States plans holding
of Kyiv international tourist forum, a meeting of the CIS Tourism Council and
a series of other events. In turn the
leaders of the diplomatic offices of CIS member countries expressed belief in
success of Ukraine’s chairmanship and assured in their support of the mentioned
priorities. |
