Competitive conditions in free trade with EU must be created for machinery manufacturing

On the data of the State Statistics Committee in 2013 machinery manufacturing brought to Ukraine around 19% export revenue. But practically the whole mechanic engineering “can end in shambles” from unfavorable conditions of trade with the EU just for 4-5 years. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov announce during the sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on January 15, 2014.

Firstly, according to him, it can happen as introducing of standards in this area needs colossal funds and several years of production innovation, but none in the European Union desires to purchase Ukrainian locomotives, carriages, cars, cranes, compressors etc.

Secondly, Mykola Azarov noted that none would wait until Ukraine improves. According to him, Ukraine will immediately open its borders for the European household appliances, cars and equipment having been in use – at the cost of transportation and assembling on the new place.

At the same time, the Head of Government stressed, we can import to ourselves European unemployment: “Their plants will produce equipment for selling in Ukraine while our production facilities will close up”.

According to him, questionable can also become our technical educational institutions, as there is no need to train in higher educational institutions specialists “to assemble with screwdrivers”.

“It is evident we have to elaborate protection from such course of events,” Mykola Azarov emphasized.

Moreover, he drew attention to the supposition that change of rules of functioning of Ukraine’s electricity market under FTA conditions with the EU could lead to growing prices for electricity on the domestic market for all types of consumers, with outrunning dynamics of growing prices for the population.

“But it deprives of the future the whole industry as huge electricity production volumes and respectively low price of it nowadays are among the principal competitive industrial advantages of Ukraine. Our task is to strengthen this advantage as long as possible,” Mykola Azarov emphasized.
