  • Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

    According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of 9:00 a.m. on May 21, in Ukraine there have been confirmed 19,706 COVID-19 cases, 579 patients died, 6,227 patients recovered. In total 1,405 cases among children and 3,833 cases among healthcare workers were recorded. During the 24 hours, 476 new cases have been confirmed.

    As of May 21, coronavirus disease was registered:

    Vinnytsia region - 788 cases;

    Volyn region - 698 cases;

    Dnipropetrovsk region - 856 cases;

    Donetsk region - 138 cases;

    Zhytomyr region - 589 cases;

    Zakarpattia region - 964 cases;

    Zaporizhia region - 398 cases;

    Ivano-Frankivsk region – 1,257 cases;

    Kirovohrad region - 455 cases;

    Kyiv – 2,475 cases;

    Kyiv region – 1,316 cases;

    Lviv region – 1,175 cases;

    Luhansk region - 43 cases;

    Mykolaiv region - 274 cases;

    Odesa region - 806 cases;

    Poltava region - 266 cases;

    Rivne region – 1,287 cases;

    Sumy region - 167 cases;

    Ternopil region – 1,098 cases;

    Kharkiv region - 851 cases;

    Kherson region – 173 cases;

    Khmelnytsky region - 294 cases;

    Chernivtsi region – 2,842 cases;

    Cherkasy region - 381 cases;

    Chernihiv region - 117 cases.

    Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available.

    13,501 patients, out of this number 1,166 children and 3,132 medical workers have been undergoing outpatient treatment. A total of 6,205 people were hospitalized, including 239 children and 701 healthcare workers. There are 249 people including 1 child and 22 healthcare workers having severe symptoms and undergoing treatment with the use of artificial lung ventilation machines.

    A total of 6,227 people have already recovered, including 1,617 medical workers - repeat laboratory testing has found no virus in body.

    The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories. As of the morning of May 21, 2020, the Center received 1,024 reports of suspected COVID-19 cases. Since the beginning of 2020, 49,352 COVID-19 suspicions have been received.

    The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine urges when having the first symptoms of respiratory illnesses to call a family doctor. Stay home! Self-isolation is the most efficient way to protect yourself from infection.
