  • Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

    According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of 9:00 a.m. on May 20, in Ukraine there have been confirmed 19,230 COVID-19 cases, 564 patients died, 5,955 patients recovered. In total 1,376 cases among children and 3,757 cases among healthcare workers were recorded. During the 24 hours, 354 new cases have been confirmed.

    As of May 20, coronavirus disease was registered:

    Vinnytsia region - 766 cases;

    Volyn region - 676 cases;

    Dnipropetrovsk region - 849 cases;

    Donetsk region - 133 cases;

    Zhytomyr region - 583 cases;

    Zakarpattia region - 922 cases;

    Zaporizhia region - 385 cases;

    Ivano-Frankivsk region – 1,246 cases;

    Kirovohrad region - 450 cases;

    Kyiv – 2,410 cases;

    Kyiv region – 1,261 cases;

    Lviv region – 1,136 cases;

    Luhansk region - 42 cases;

    Mykolaiv region - 264 cases;

    Odesa region - 792 cases;

    Poltava region - 265 cases;

    Rivne region – 1,217 cases;

    Sumy region - 167 cases;

    Ternopil region – 1,089 cases;

    Kharkiv region - 836 cases;

    Kherson region – 172 cases;

    Khmelnytsky region - 280 cases;

    Chernivtsi region – 2,796 cases;

    Cherkasy region - 381 cases;

    Chernihiv region - 115 cases.

    Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available.

    13,140 patients, out of this number 1,138 children and 3,069 medical workers have been undergoing outpatient treatment. A total of 6,090 people were hospitalized, including 238 children and 688 healthcare workers. There are 27 people including 1 child and 21 healthcare workers having severe symptoms and undergoing treatment with the use of artificial lung ventilation machines.

    A total of 5,955 people have already recovered, including 1,544 medical workers - repeat laboratory testing has found no virus in body.

    The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories. As of the morning of May 20, 2020, the Center received 1,154 reports of suspected COVID-19 cases. Since the beginning of 2020, 48,328 COVID-19 suspicions have been received.

    The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine urges when having the first symptoms of respiratory illnesses to call a family doctor. Stay home! Self-isolation is the most efficient way to protect yourself from infection.
