The Government agreed to change the intended function of two state-owned land plots in the Rakhiv district of Zakarpattia region. From the category of forestry lands in reserve, they will be transferred to the status of lands of the nature reserve fund and will be handed over to the supervision of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve for permanent use.

Today's decision is a step towards expanding the territory of the reserve and, accordingly, preserving the unique Ukrainian nature.

As a reminder, the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve is one of the largest environmentally protected objects in Ukraine.

It is known throughout the world among scientists and tourists for the following:

• the largest massifs of primeval beech forests in Europe, which are included into the UNESCO World Heritage list "Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe";
• unique highland ecosystems with lakes of glacial origin;
• the highest mountain peaks of the Ukrainian Carpathians: Hoverla, Brebeneskul, Petros, Blyznytsy, Pip Ivan Marmarosky, etc.;
• karst caves;
• valleys of daffodils, etc.

Moreover, the geographical center of modern Europe is located on its territory, and one can explore the settlements of early human.
