Starting February 1, Ukrainians who want to receive microgrants to start or develop their business can apply for the first wave of this year’s Own Business program. This was announced by the First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko.
“Microgrants for starting or developing one’s own business is one of the most popular eRobota grant programs. Last year, 3,300 Ukrainians received support from the state in the form of microgrants ranging from UAH 50,000 to 250,000 to implement their business ideas. This year we are continuing the program. The government is ready to support every Ukrainian who wants to start a business by providing them with non-refundable financial assistance. By doing so, we are investing in development of small businesses and economic revitalization, as well as stimulating the labor market, as these entrepreneurs will create tens of thousands of new jobs,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
Both existing entrepreneurs and people with no business experience can receive a microgrant. To receive the funds, they need to submit an application and a business plan for their project through the Diia website. After checking the submitted documents, evaluating the business plan, as well as the applicant’s credit history, they have to be interviewed by specialists from the State Employment Service, which will decide whether to grant or refuse the application.
As a reminder, the Own Business program was launched on July 1, 2022. Under the program, one can receive a microgrant for starting or developing a business in the amount of UAH 50,000 to 250,000. A prerequisite for receiving a microgrant is the creation of 1-2 new jobs, depending on the sum of the microgrant provided. In 2022, 12 waves of microgrant applications were completed, each lasting 2 weeks. A total of UAH 777 million in microgrants were issued.
