This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of a United Nations peacekeeping mission. Since then, UN peacekeepers have carried out more than 70 operations of various degrees of complexity in hot spots of our planet. UN Peacekeeping Forces blue helmets have become a symbol of human desire for the overall brotherhood and peace, as well as the symbol of hope for people whose land was ravaged by war.
Unfortunately, the question of the United Nations peacekeeper mission is relevant for our country as well these days. Military, information, cyber and economic aggression of the RF regime, long-term hostilities in the east of our country force us to declare the need for a peacekeeping mission in certain regions of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Complicating the situation, however, is the fact that the introduction of the peacekeeping mission to Donbas requires the approval of the aggressor state in the UN Security Council and the vission of this mission differs greatly from that of ours. However, Ukraine is committed to further assert its stance. We will urge the world community to work vigorously in this direction, as each day of delayed action claims lives of our defenders. To achieve the set goals, the UN peacekeeping mission should have broad powers and be located throughout the conflict zone, in particular on the uncontrolled section of the Ukrainian-Russian border.
I believe that with the support of the international community and due to the courage of our warriors, we are capable of bringing peace to Ukraine and restore the territorial integrity of the country.
Sincerely
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr GROYSMAN
