On April 11, a meeting on the activities of local governments under martial law was chaired by Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Chernyshov. It gathered together representatives of central executive bodies, the Association of Ukrainian Cities and heads of more than 50 territorial communities.
The issues discussed by the participants of the meeting concerned the problematic issues of community life during the war. "Be it a peaceful time, we would talk today about the development of our cities and communities. However, the war has temporarily changed our plans and we are now facing extremely difficult challenges," said Minister Oleksii Chernyshov.
In particular, during the meeting the following issues were raised:
The Minister thanked the participants for their determination, professionalism and cohesion and noted that the communities are bringing Ukraine closer to victory:
"Many of you have sheltered refugees – some communities tens and some hundreds of thousands of people who were forced to flee the war. You support each other in these tragic days. You have established the logistics of humanitarian aid to communities that need it. And dozens of other important points in your daily schedule today, each of which, I am convinced, is a step towards Ukraine's victory."
The Minister also stressed that the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development had always been a reliable partner of cities and communities. And in this difficult time, it is the responsibility of the Ministry to take all measures to find solutions to problems and overcome the challenges that have arisen for each community and the country as a whole! He added that no region of our state will be left aside.
