Damage to Ukraine's environment caused by russia's blowing up of Kakhovka HPP dam has already amounted to more than USD 1.5 billion
Verification of new data is ongoing. Therefore, the amount of damage could reach hundreds of billions of hryvnias. This was emphasized by Ruslan Strilets, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, in the studio of the Rada TV channel.
"We objectively understand that some ecosystems have been lost forever. They will not be restored. We have lost endemic species of animals. These are species that existed only in one place on earth - in the South of Ukraine. We have lost half of the forest in this area," said Ruslan Strilets.
According to him, a plan for the restoration of the region affected by the explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam is currently being prepared on order of the President. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, together with scientists, is looking for ways and developing concrete steps to preserve ecosystems.
