Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, has started a working visit to the United States. With the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the first meeting was held at the headquarters of Bank of America in New York with American companies. The parties discussed attracting American investors to the Ukrainian market, the priority sectors in which businesses are interested in investing, and overcoming barriers faced by investors.
The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Minister of Economy Oleksii Sobolev, Deputy Minister of Energy Roman Andarak and Deputy Minister of Defence Sergiy Boyev, who presented specific projects to attract investment to Ukraine and opportunities for business development,
“We had a very productive meeting with representatives of BlackRock, Citi, Bayer, Logistics Plus, PwC, Bank of America, Baker Hughes, Siguler Guff and others. A number of them are already operating in Ukraine, paying taxes and employing thousands of people, while others are considering doing so. In order to invest now, American businesses want to see predictability in government policy, reduced administrative barriers, and risk mitigation tools – from guarantees to insurance and reinsurance. For each of these points, we already have developments and concrete steps that will help American companies enter the Ukrainian market or expand their presence in Ukraine,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
According to her, American businesses and the Ukrainian Government clearly have the same priorities in terms of sectors. First of all, they are interested in investing in the development of production in Ukraine, energy, agro-processing, transport and logistics, critical materials, digitalisation, and the development of the defence sector with localisation in Ukraine.
“We discussed specific plans of the partners, in particular in terms of energy and logistics projects. We noted an active interest in privatisation processes, public-private partnerships, and in general deepening the dialogue both through the Business Advisory Council and the Ukraine Recovery Conference. I have invited American companies to participate in the conference, which will be held in Rome this year, and to submit their proposals on the agenda of the event,” said the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy.
Yuliia Svyrydenko expressed her gratitude to Bank of America for their reliable partnership, highlighting their role in advising and strengthening the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
