The Minister of Defence of Ukraine spoke at the VII International Veterans Forum, where he presented key initiatives to support the defenders of Ukraine.
The Head of the Ministry of Defence thanked the veterans for their dedication and stressed that the Ministry was working in all areas, providing modern weapons, equipment, ammunition and professional training for the military.
A separate focus is the rehabilitation of the military.
“We are actively engaging the experience of the G7 and G20 countries to improve rehabilitation programmes,” Rustem Umerov said.
In particular, the Department of Psychological Support has been set up to reintegrate soldiers released from captivity. A Barrier-Free project is also being implemented together with communities to help veterans integrate into civilian life without barriers.
The Ministry will reconstruct military hospitals in 12 cities over the next two years: Dnipro, Odesa, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Lutsk, Lviv, Poltava, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi and Khmilnyk.
The Minister of Defence also announced the continuation of the army’s digitalisation.
“In six months, we have launched a line of innovative solutions – the Reserve+ and Army+ apps, which have reduced paperwork. The next step is to launch the Veteran+ app, a service for the state to provide services to veterans,” Rustem Umerov concluded.
