The core objectives for the Government for 2019, during which two electoral campaigns are planned, are to preserve economic growth and secure the irreversibility of reforms. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said during a meeting with experts from the NDI (National Democratic Institute, the USA). They came to Ukraine to assess the situation within the state and the community spirit in the light of the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
"We have major objectives ahead. The main thing is to ensure stability. We have overriding economic and financial challenges, but we are doing a lot to provide growth", said Volodymyr Groysman. "The second objective is not to halt the reform process. And the third is to provide everything that depends on the Government for a democratic and transparent election to be held."
The NDI representatives noted that the irreversibility of reforms in fact is important, especially in the context of improving the business climate, the continuation of decentralization, which "already shows significant progress." However, a transparent electoral process, deprived of external influences, is equally in demand and much awaited by both the Ukrainian society and the international community.
According to Derek Mitchell, President of National Democratic Institute, Ukraine is currently on the cutting edge in the fight against Russian aggression. And the experience of counteracting Russian aggression is worthwhile for the whole world.
During the talks, the parties agreed to work more closely together in the near future, taking into account the developments in Ukraine, inter alia in the context of the elections, and in the world.
