The Verkhovna Rada has adopted the Law On Unbundling of Naftogaz with 292 MPs voting for the relevant resolution.

“At last! A law on unbundling of Naftogaz has been passed – the law which stipulates for separation of natural gas transmission activities.

We have achieved in 2 months what had been failed to achieve in the previous three years.

This is a critical law for the country, and I express my gratitude to our colleagues MPs for their support and endorsement of this initiative.

Having adopted the law, we will bring Ukrainian energy legislation into line with the European law in the energy sector.

After all, the requirements for the establishment of a separate and independent GTS operator are stipulated for by the Law on the Natural Gas Market and the EU’s Third Energy Package.

We have provided the necessary conditions to fulfill Ukraine's obligations to separate gas transmission activities and to ensure the operation of the gas transmission system operator.

Now our position in the negotiations regarding transit will become even stronger, while Ukraine's economic interests will be even more protected!

Plus I want to emphasize and dispel all the rumors! The state remains the sole owner of the GTS!” commented on the decision Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk.
