  • Gas being pumped into storage ahead of schedule: German Galushchenko
Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 22 August 2023 14:34

Gas pumping into Ukrainian gas storages is ahead of schedule, with more than 13 billion cubic metres of natural gas already pumped into UGS facilities.

This was stated by Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko during a visit to one of the facilities of JSC Ukrtransgaz in Lviv region.

According to the Minister, the load on gas production and distribution companies will increase as winter approaches. The complicated logistical routes have led to an increase in the use of gas for electricity generation.

German Galushchenko also noted the effective work of the entire Naftogaz of Ukraine team, including Ukrtransgaz, which resulted in the certification of Ukrainian underground storage facilities to European standards. This has created opportunities for foreign companies to store gas in Ukraine.

European companies have already started actively pumping natural gas into Ukraine’s UGS facilities, which already store about 600 million cubic metres of foreign gas. This is an important contribution to the energy security of Ukraine and the entire European continent.
