Ministry of Health of Ukraine, posted 12 August 2024 14:50

For more than two years of full-scale war, russia has continued to attack Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, including medical facilities, and to terrorise the civilian population. The enemy bombs Ukrainian hospitals, clinics, maternity wards, etc. on a daily basis, thus putting an additional burden on the healthcare system.

Thus, over the 901 days of the war, 1646 medical facilities have been damaged by enemy attacks, and another 215 of them have been completely destroyed beyond repair. The biggest losses were suffered by medical facilities in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. It is currently impossible to obtain comprehensive information on the extent of damage to hospitals in the temporarily occupied territories.

In addition, the enemy damaged 196 ambulances, ruined 266 and seized 125 ambulances.

Today, the restoration of medical infrastructure remains a priority for the state. Therefore, the Ministry of Health and its partners continue to work on restoring Ukraine's medical infrastructure to ensure that every patient has unimpeded access to quality and necessary medical services.

In particular, 530 facilities have been fully restored and another 355 have been partially restored. These are medical facilities in the de-occupied territories, as well as those that have suffered minor damage: broken windows, roofing, facade damage, etc. Most facilities have been restored in Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions.

The work to restore Ukrainian healthcare facilities will continue.

As reported earlier, the Primary Healthcare Centre in Mena was rebuilt in Chernihiv region to provide patients with quality healthcare services.
