The Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine was a pioneer among other state authorities in conducting energy audit of its premises. Energy audit was carried out within the framework of the project "Energy efficiency reforms in Ukraine" implemented by the German Corporation for International Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit, GIZ). Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko wrote on Facebook page following the outcomes of the meeting with GIZ representatives. "Today, we outlined a blueprint for recommendations on modernization of enclosing structures and building services. The Ministry will be able to reduce the total annual consumption of thermal energy by more than 100 kW per year due to energy efficiency measures. I think that other state authorities should follow this example. These savings are  worth fighting for!", the Vice Prime Minister underscored.

He stressed that further steps and core objectives of further cooperation were outlined at a meeting with partners from the Government of Germany and GIZ after the signing of an agreement on establishment of a multi-donor fund to co-finance the Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Fund between the European Union, the International Finance Corporation (IFC, a member of the World Bank Group) and the Government of Germany.

"The issues at stake, first and foremost, are implementation of the Law " On Energy Efficiency of Buildings", training and certification of energy auditors in universities, training of employees of the Energy Efficiency Fund, implementation of the EU directives on energy efficiency in the housing, public and municipal sectors, transport and industry," Hennadii Zubko emphasized.

The Vice Prime Minister thanked international partners, in particular, the European Union, the IFC and the Government of Germany for the constant support of the reforms in Ukraine.

It should be noted that Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is fully owned by the Government of Germany. The organization operates around the globe and offers effective solutions for political, economic, environmental and social development in a globalized world, and supports the processes of far-reaching reforms and transformations.
