On commission of the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Minister of Health Maxym Stepanov is flying to the scene of the tragedy in Zaporizhia as a matter of urgency. He will get familiarized with the situation regarding the fire that broke out on the territory of the Regional Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases, which occurred late in the evening on February 3 and killed people.

"On behalf of the entire Government, I express my condolences to the families of the dead and injured. Compliance with fire safety rules in hospitals is number one task for heads of regions and chief doctors. I gave the commission to investigate the causes of the fire as soon as possible and provide all necessary assistance to the victims," said the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

"Deep condolences to families and relatives. Law enforcement officers are finding out the reasons for the fire in the building, and the perpetrators of this tragedy will be prosecuted according to the law," said the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxym Stepanov.

According to the State Emergency Service, on February 3, at 11:25 pm in Zaporizhia, 142 Hvardiisky Boulevard, a fire broke out on the ground floor of a five-story medical building on the territory of the Regional Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases of the Zaporizhia Regional Council. According to the data provided by the emergency medical service, the blaze occurred in the intensive care unit, as a result, a doctor and 3 patients died. Then the fire spread through the building. On February 4, at 00:19 the fire was extinguished, 60 SES personnel and 16 units of SES equipment were involved in the extinguishing fire.
