Regular flights between Mykolaiv and Kyiv will be launched starting April. Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii announced today, February 17, 2020.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on July 17, 2019, during a working trip to Mykolaiv, tasked to trigger regular flights from Mykolaiv International Airport. The Head of State gave a clear commission to provide people with an opportunity to use air service as soon as possible. Since April 2020 scheduled flights have been opened and airline ticket sales have already begun. The Ministry of Infrastructure is working vigorously to develop domestic aviation and regional airport infrastructure. The principal objective is to satisfy people's demand for convenient and affordable air travel.

A policy of the development of domestic aviation pursued by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine is supported by the airlines. Windrose Airlines starts scheduled flights between 6 Ukraine’s cities such as Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Odesa and Mykolaiv in April, and in November this year flights to Ivano-Frankivsk will also be available.

In order to stimulate the development of the domestic aviation industry, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine has prepared a bill to abolish VAT for domestic flights. The draft law creates favorable conditions to facilitate more airlines entering the market and reduce the cost of flights. In addition, there is active work on the development of regional airport infrastructure. In the near future, it is planned the modernization of the airport in Izmail and the preparation of a project for the construction of the airport in Mukachevo. Recently there has been announced the winner for the new runway development project at Dnipropetrovsk International Airport.
