UNESCO approves Ukraine’s initiative to declare 27 November as International Day of Science for Sustainable Development

Today, 8 November, the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference adopted Ukraine’s initiative – a resolution to proclaim 27 November as the International Day of Engagement in Science for Sustainable Development.

Ukraine welcomes this resolution, which emphasises the key role of science in ensuring sustainable development, peace and human well-being.

Science should unite the efforts of states, scientists and citizens towards a common goal – a future based on knowledge, responsibility and innovation.

We invite all UNESCO Member States, partners and institutions to join Ukraine in celebrating this International Day every year on 27 November to promote global engagement in science and reaffirm our shared commitment to building a sustainable, inclusive and peaceful world through knowledge and cooperation.
