A new approach to announcing air raid alerts – district-specific notifications – is being introduced across the country. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine, together with the Air Forces and regional military administrations, has implemented district divisions throughout the country, except in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Differentiating alerts by individual districts will help reduce the duration of alerts in those communities where there is no immediate threat at a given moment. Businesses and local communities have long called for this, so that enterprises can operate without downtime.

In the first phase, the system was tested in 13 regions. It has now been extended to all regions.

“The new approach has already substantially reduced the duration of alerts. This is particularly noticeable in front-line and central regions. The greatest effect has been recorded in Dnipropetrovsk region, where some communities have gained more than 100 additional days without alerts. In Sumy region, alert time has been reduced by 50 days, and in Kharkiv region by more than a month in some communities,” noted Yulia Svyrydenko. “This enables critical infrastructure and businesses to operate more stably and support economic activity in the regions.”

In addition, the transmission of the signal from the Air Forces to the State Emergency Service now takes not several minutes, but 8–15 seconds, which improves the speed of response.
