Today, at its session, the Government approved a series of decisions to support people with disabilities, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced.

In particular, important decisions were made to ensure mobility:

1. People with disabilities will be reimbursed for vehicle modifications.

The reimbursement applies to vehicles owned by the person, regardless of whether they are new or used.

How it will work:

- The person converts the car, makes a note in their driving licence, registers the changes and confirms the expenses with documents.

- The application for compensation is submitted to the territorial branch of the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities. This can be done in person or through the electronic office at the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity web portal, as well as through the Diia.

- The decision on payment is made within 3 working days, and the funds will be credited within 10 working days after receipt by the Fund's accounts.

"The amount of the payment shall correspond to the actual expenses up to UAH 50,000. Funding of approximately UAH 30 million is planned for next year. We have previously adopted a similar decision for veterans," the Prime Minister emphasised.

2. The Government improves the availability of prostheses and orthoses for children and adults — civilians who have suffered from russian aggression.

What exactly is changing:

- The amount of state compensation for the cost has been increased — a double limit has been set for the cost of prostheses and orthoses.

- For the first time, access to upper limb prostheses with an external energy source (bionic/myoelectric) is provided — previously, children were not provided with those.

- Regular replacement of socket adapters up to 3-5 times a year due to the rapid growth of the child has been regulated.

- Children shall also be provided with two types of multifunctional wheelchairs, depending on their needs.

"What's important: the algorithm for obtaining a product or compensation has not changed — it is still regulated by CMU Resolution No. 321," emphasised Yulia Svyrydenko.

How to get it:

Applications can be submitted in paper form through the CASP or online, together with the necessary documents. The application is then considered by the territorial branch of the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities. Decisions are made within three working days, and afterwards the Fund prepares recommendations and pays compensation.

After receiving confirmation from the Fund, parents or legal representatives can contact the selected manufacturer to receive or order the product.

The replacement of the stump socket is administered through a repair request, which must also be submitted to the territorial branch of the Fund.
