The Government will allocate UAH 1.1 billion to energy independence projects in universities. According to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, this was agreed upon during a meeting with the rectors of major higher education institutions regarding preparations for the coming winter.

“The priority is the continuity of education and the energy independence of universities. There are already successful examples of distributed generation projects at universities in Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Lviv, and this work must become systematic throughout the country,” the Prime Minister noted. “We agreed that to this end, the Government will earmark UAH 1.1 billion to university energy independence projects, including UAH 100 million for the development of design and cost estimate documentation.”

The Ministry of Education and Science, together with the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development and the Ministry of Energy, must determine the priority of support and the readiness of projects for implementation.

“The continuity of education is a key component of human capital development and the training of high-quality specialists for the Ukrainian economy, even amid the challenges of a full-scale war,” the Head of Government emphasized.
