Yulia Svyrydenko: Adoption of the Law On Vocational Education paves the way for modernisation and European integration of the education system

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed the new Law “On Vocational Education,” with 285 MPs voting in favour.

“This is a significant step towards European integration and the implementation of the Ukraine Plan, unlocking access to approximately EUR 390 million in support from the European Union,” stated Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

The Law provides for:

• Granting vocational colleges financial and administrative autonomy;
• Updating educational content in collaboration with businesses;
• Introducing independent knowledge assessments in qualification centres.

These changes will enable the training of specialists needed for the modern Ukrainian and European labour markets.

Additionally, the Government will annually invest in modernising the infrastructure of vocational education institutions, including creating new workshops and laboratories, insulating dormitories, and reconstructing facilities.

“I thank everyone who worked on this law. These are changes for the sake of youth, the economy, and the country’s recovery,” the Prime Minister emphasised.
