Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko met with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva.

“I was pleased to welcome Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, to Kyiv – an important signal of support for Ukraine. Her visit comes at a particularly difficult moment for our energy sector, amid unprecedented russian attacks and the coldest winter in 20 years,” said the Head of the Ukrainian Government.

Yulia Svyrydenko and Kristalina Georgieva together inspected the consequences of enemy strikes on one of Kyiv's major energy facilities. Undoubtedly, russia continues its deliberate terror against civilians and attempts to use the cold as a weapon against Ukrainians, to break their morale and force them to make concessions. This is yet another act of genocide against the Ukrainian people.

The Prime Minister expressed her gratitude to Kristalina Georgieva for her personal involvement in helping our country during times of serious challenges, both through financial instruments and by advocating for support for Ukraine among partners.

The parties separately discussed the state of preparations for the adoption of the IMF support program for the next period, which is extremely important for maintaining Ukraine’s macro-financial stability.

“The IMF remains one of Ukraine's key international financial partners. I am thankful for the gesture of friendship and solidarity with the Ukrainian people, conveyed by members of the IMF Executive Board during the meeting. We highly value our cooperation,” Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized.
