The Ukrainian government delegation discussed with the organisers of Expo 2025, to be held in Osaka, Japan, from 13 April to 13 October 2025, the special conditions for Ukraine’s participation in the event. In addition, the Japanese side is ready to support Ukraine financially and organisationally. This was discussed during a meeting between Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, and Hiroyuki Ishige, Secretary General of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition.
“We are sincerely grateful for the opportunity to participate in Expo 2025 on special terms kindly offered by the Japanese side. The full-scale war has caused significant damage to our economy. Given the difficult situation in Ukraine, the decision to participate was not an easy one. However, thanks to the support of our Japanese partners, we will have this opportunity. The theme of this year’s Expo 2025 is Designing Future Society. For Ukraine, this is a great opportunity to declare that it is our country that is currently building a global society and protecting its values,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the key details of the future Ukrainian exposition. Ukraine is currently finalising internal procedures for participation in the event.
It is expected that more than 160 countries, 8 international organisations and about 28 million guests will take part in Expo 2025. For Ukraine, this is an opportunity to attract the attention of not only Japanese businesses but also potential investors from around the world. At the same time, russia will not participate in the exhibition.
