Department of Information and Public Communications of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, posted 31 December 2025 14:26

Health workers in frontline regions can now receive official housing within a 30 km radius of their workplace, not only in villages but also in cities. The 2026 State Budget envisages UAH 100 million for the implementation of the programme. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

"From now on, healthcare institutions can use the state budget to purchase housing for medical workers whose main place of work is also located in cities in frontline regions. These are Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Kherson," Yulia Svyrydenko emphasised.

The Head of Government added that housing can be purchased in the settlement where the medical worker's main place of activity is located, or in another neighbouring settlement within a distance of up to 30 kilometres. Housing can also be selected in Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv and Kherson - cities in the active combat zone. However, it will not be possible to purchase housing in other regional administrative centres or in Kyiv. Service housing shall be provided to medical workers for the duration of their employment.

The Prime Minister emphasised: "During meetings with doctors in frontline regions, we hear that the issue of housing is one of the most pressing challenges for communities. In addition to decent pay, the state must ensure that doctors and nurses have the opportunity to live close to their place of work. We are working on this issue."
