Yulia Svyrydenko: Over 5.7 million square metres of road damage repaired – the highest figure for the same periods in six years

Current road repairs are ongoing across the country. More than 5.7 million square metres of damage to the road surface have already been repaired on international highways and state-importance roads. This is a record figure for the equivalent periods over the past six years, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko said.

“Current repairs on international routes must be completed by 1 May, and on national routes by 1 June,” the Prime Minister noted.

In line with previous government instructions, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development and the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development have ensured a significant increase in the pace of works: more than 200 crews and nearly 2,000 workers are on site every day.

Also, in accordance with a government decision, repair works have begun on roads in frontline regions within a 40-kilometre zone from the line of contact. These are being carried out by units of the State Special Transport Service, taking into account the security situation and the priority of the routes.

“Roads are a matter of the country’s defence capability, effective logistics, business operations and the functioning of communities,” Yulia Svyrydenko stressed.
