  • The EIB plans to disburse €40 mln to Ukraine to combat the coronavirus

    Within the framework of the ongoing project “Municipal Infrastructure Development Program of Ukraine” launched in 2014, Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov held a meeting with the European Investment Bank (EIB) via online communication. The parties discussed the issue of attracting a 40 million euro loan to respond quickly and take the necessary steps to overcome the coronavirus in Ukraine.

    On March 23, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine received an action plan from the EIB on allocation of the discussed loan. The parties are now agreeing on the details and terms of the cooperation.

    “Under the today's emergency situation caused by coronavirus, every initiative that seeks to strengthen pandemic resources is extremely important and urgent. In this regard, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development will cooperate with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance in order to achieve a single result - quick credit. This loan from the EIB will be used to purchase the necessary medical equipment. The Ministry is already working with the Ministry of Health on the list of equipment needed to buy for these funds, ” the Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov commented on the event.

    Representatives of the EIB emphasized their suppport of Ukraine’s Government strategy and confirmed that the availability of advanced medical equipment to combat COVID-19 is also crucial for the whole world and for Ukraine.
