Ukraine and the EU are launching a new project - EU4Green Recovery East. The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk posted this on her Facebook page.
"This is a programme aimed at developing a circular economy, sustainable water management and environmental data management. The initiative covers the Eastern Partnership countries and will help them promote reforms," said Svitlana Grynchuk.
According to Svitlana Grynchuk, the programme is to run for four years and has a total budget of EUR 21.5 million. For Ukraine, which is on the verge of large-scale reconstruction, this is a great opportunity and significant assistance.
"Together with UNDP, we are currently working on a draft law On Green Recovery, which is fully consistent with the Green Taxonomy and EU experience. It will become our strategy for sustainable recovery. In addition, EU4Green Recovery East is an opportunity for Ukrainian businesses to increase resource efficiency and create new jobs," said Svitlana Grynchuk.
The first steps have already been taken in preparing a work plan to adapt the Programme's activities to the specific needs of Ukraine. Technical meetings of experts in the relevant fields are ahead.
We are grateful to the European Union for its systematic support of Ukraine. Special thanks to the partners who will implement EU4Green Recovery East - Expertise France and the French International Office for Water (OiEau), OECD, UNECE, UNIDO, the Environment Agency Austria (UBA).
"The strategic partnership with the EU has already yielded results, including in the field of environmental protection. In times of war, it is our support and our rear. I am confident that in the time of Ukraine's reconstruction, these will be our joint successes and achievements," the Minister said.
