The 10th meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council took place in Brussels, to discuss support for our country, financial assistance and reforms on the European integration path. The Government team led by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal took part in the event.
"Ukraine has completed 81% of its commitments under the Association Agreement with the EU. The most significant progress has been made in the areas of intellectual property, education, information exchange, humanitarian policy, justice, public procurement, and national security. In these and other areas, Ukraine has fulfilled over 90% of its commitments," said Denys Shmyhal.
He also added that in 2024, considerable advances were made in the areas of the customs, healthcare and finance.
The Head of Government stressed that Ukraine demonstrated the ability to make its way to EU membership quickly and efficiently.
"Already this year, we seek to open all six clusters in the EU accession negotiations, as well as to deepen sectoral integration," the Prime Minister said.
Denys Shmyhal noted that ambassadors of the EU member states had attended the meeting of the Association Council and unanimously acknowledged Ukraine's great progress in European integration and the positive dynamics of reforms.
"We reaffirmed our joint commitment to Ukraine's European integration, deeper integration into the Single Market and the EU's security space," he emphasized.
In his separate remarks, Denys Shmyhal highlighted the significant support for Ukraine by its European partners. During the meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council, almost every speech began with words of solidarity and a reflection on the tragedy in Kryvyi Rih, which had become a symbol of the aggressor's cruelty.
"The killing of 20 people, including 9 children, by a russian ballistic missile in a playground is a heavy wound in the heart of every Ukrainian. I thank our partners for their sympathy and understanding. In particular, for understanding that russia does not want peace, and this is evident from its actions and daily shelling of Ukrainian cities," Denys Shmyhal said stressing the need to toughen sanctions against the aggressor.
