The key target of the government’s debt policy, and in particular of the Ministry of Finance, is to minimize the  debt-to-GDP ratio and efficient public debt management. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced on  air of the HB radio.

He stressed that the existing debts in Ukraine are literally a "legacy" of past  periods that had been accumulated before 2014. And maintenance of these debts  costs one third of the country's budget.

"One third of the budget will be spent to pay off debts. These are two defensive budgets! I also want to emphasize: we have reduced it to less than 60% of the debt of 80% of GDP. And we are properly managing the debt. And then we need predictability, stability. It is necessary to minimize the debt so that it does not affect the pace of our development", the Prime Minister underscored.
