Vitalii Koval, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, as part of a Government delegation led by Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, with the participation of Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine, and Vsevolod Chentsov, Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the European Union, took part in a series of high-level meetings in Brussels.

The main topic of the talks was the future of trade between Ukraine and the European Union after the expiry of the current autonomous trade measures on 5 June.

"The European Commission has already adopted a list of transitional measures that will come into effect on 6 June. This is an interim solution to avoid the worst-case scenario and preserve the access of Ukrainian agricultural exports to the European market. It gives us time and space to find a stable long-term solution within the framework of the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Area," said Vitalii Koval.

According to him, the dialogue with the European partners is constructive: they agreed to work quickly, purposefully and in a coordinated manner.

"There is political will on both sides to find a balanced solution by the end of July. Our goal is to avoid uncertainty, provide our farmers with clear rules of the game and ensure sustainable access of Ukrainian products to the EU market. For Ukraine, this is not only a trade issue, it is a matter of economic stability during the war,” the Minister stressed.

Vitalii Koval also thanked his European colleagues for their clear position, dialogue and partnership.
