Germany supports Ukraine's aspirations on its path to membership in the European Union. The country will also continue to provide the necessary medical care to Ukrainian migrants who have sought temporary shelter in Germany. The Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko announced this following a meeting with the Minister for Health of Germany Karl Lauterbach.
A number of evacuation routes are already operating, transporting wounded Ukrainians to German clinics. In particular, every week the Ministry of Health sends Ukrainian wounded and sick with a special medical flight Luftwaffe of the German Armed Forces to hospitals in the country.
"We thank the German Government for its genuine friendship and the support we have from our German colleagues. These are medicines, consumables and medical equipment. I hope that in the future Germany will also be able to join the reconstruction of the health care facilities destroyed by the russian occupiers, which we will build taking into account the best European practices, "said Viktor Liashko.
The Ministers of Health of Ukraine and Germany also discussed the issues of rehabilitation and prosthetics. As a result of the war, hundreds of Ukrainians, including children, are losing limbs and will need prosthetics in the future. The Ministry of Health is currently negotiating with European partners to focus part of the production of prosthetic companies on the territory of Ukraine.
It was also agreed that teams of German doctors who use advanced technology to treat burn injuries will share their experience with Ukrainian doctors.
During the meeting, the issue of withdrawal of German pharmaceutical companies from the russian market was also raised. The Ministry of Health continues to insist that leading European pharmaceutical manufacturers have no place in the market of an aggressor country that kills Ukrainians every day.
