Vietnam is ready to support Ukraine in implementing environmental reforms. This was agreed upon at a meeting between Ruslan Strilets, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, and Nguyen Hong Thach, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Ukraine and Moldova. The parties discussed the implementation of waste management and forestry reforms in Ukraine, as well as opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the environmental sector.
According to Ruslan Strilets, Ukraine and Vietnam have many common topics for discussion, as Vietnam is a country that also has experience of war and reconstruction.
According to Nguyen Hong Thach, Vietnam’s environment is still suffering from the consequences of the war. The country remembers and appreciates Ukraine’s assistance, so it unequivocally supports Ukraine in the fight against russian terror and is ready to send its specialists to Ukraine.
The meeting also focused on the implementation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula, the Environmental Declaration, the calculation of damages, and ways to bring russia to justice. In particular, the importance of this track not only for Ukraine, but also for the whole world and states experiencing military aggression. This is the first experience of such a large-scale calculation of environmental damage in human history, but it is possible that it will exceed the damage to infrastructure.
