The Government has amended the procedure and conditions for providing subventions from the state budget to local budgets for the arrangement of a safe educational environment. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a meeting of the Cabinet on 28 January.

According to him, these funds can now be used not only to build shelters, but also to buy generators for schools.

The Prime Minister stressed that the safety of Ukrainian schools, so that as many children as possible could study offline, was one of the state’s priorities. He emphasised that the Government’s School Offline policy had helped more than 100,000 children return to educational institutions last year.

“We are continuing this policy this year. We are allocating UAH 1.6 billion for the purchase of about 460 school buses. This will ensure the transportation of about 30,000 schoolchildren to educational institutions,” the Head of Government noted.
