The loading of the VVER-440 reactor of the Rivne NPP with nuclear fuel manufactured by Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB with the participation of Energoatom specialists should open the way for sanctions against russia in the relevant industry. This opinion was expressed by Minister of Energy German Galushchenko.
“There is not a single obstacle left to impose sanctions on the russian nuclear industry,” the Minister added.
He pointed out that this type of nuclear fuel had previously been produced exclusively by russia, making the countries that used it dependent on the terrorist state. This argument, in particular, was used by a number of states to justify their refusal to impose quick sanctions on the russian nuclear industry during the relevant negotiations.
“We are already working with a number of European countries and have signed relevant documents. We are working to replace russia in the nuclear fuel market,” added German Galushchenko.
