Today, a test run of a train from Rakhiv to Valea Vișeului (Romania) took place, and tomorrow, January 18, the train will make its first official trip.
The launch of these trains will significantly speed up transport links between Ukraine and the EU, and provide Ukrainians who have been forced to leave Ukraine with additional transportation options to return home.
The launch of the train became possible due to the restoration of the Rakhiv - Dilove - Valea Vișeului section, which had not been operating since 2011, as part of the Open Border project in 2022. In particular, more than 20 kilometers of tracks and 12 bridges were repaired, and the Rakhiv railway station was renovated.
The trains will depart daily at 6:10 and 14:10 and arrive in Valea Vișeului at 7:45 and 15:45, respectively. In the opposite direction, trains will depart at 11:45 and 18:15 and arrive in Rakhiv at 12:20 and 18:50, respectively.
In addition, Ukrzaliznytsia has provided convenient connections to Lviv. In particular, the company has scheduled train No. 810/809 Lviv - Rakhiv - Lviv. The train will depart from Lviv at 7:00 and arrive in Rakhiv at 13:20. In the opposite direction, from Rakhiv, the train will depart at 14:34 and arrive in Lviv at 20:50.
