Ministry of Defence: 34,300 hectares of agricultural land demined since start of year

Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, posted 18 November 2025 16:40

From January to November 2025, demining specialists have cleared 34,300 hectares of agricultural land of explosive hazards. In total, more than 43,000 hectares have been surveyed since the beginning of the year.

This was reported during a meeting of the National Mine Action Authority, chaired by First Deputy Minister of Defence Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk.

Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk particularly emphasised that a number of important decisions were adopted at the meeting which will have a significant impact on the further improvement and development of mine action in Ukraine.

In particular, from now on, government mine action operators will be given priority in carrying out non-technical surveys of agricultural land. At present, 41 demining units of the security and defence forces are certified mine action operators for the non-technical survey process.

In addition, where necessary, it was decided to involve non-profit mine action operators.

The implementation of these decisions will ensure effective coordination among all mine action stakeholders, which is critically important for guaranteeing high-quality demining work and increasing the safety of the population.
